As a post-graduate researcher, knowledge transmission through teaching and mentoring has been a central part of my job. Since my PhD, I have taught classes in genetics, marine ecology, evolution (~200h). More recently at UQAR, I was a lecturer in evolutionary physiology and conservation genetics. I have also tutored over ten undergraduate students. As a scientist, I feel that an important part of the job is to communicate your results to the community. I have participated for three years to a national outreach events (“fête de la science”) by going in schools to raise awareness on the threat of alien species and welcoming people in the lab to present our work. I was also involved in the European Researchers' Night, organized by the European Commission to present my work of genetic tools for fish stock assessment. These events are important for the public to discover the outcome of publicly funded research and crucial for sensibilization to biodiversity preservation.
